¡Salud! Statistics & Impact

¡Salud! currently reaches approximately 40% of northern Willamette Valley vineyards and their workers with healthcare and health education programs.

¡Salud! outreach programs are funded by the proceeds of the annual ¡Salud! The Oregon Pinot Noir Auction and other generous contributions. Over the years, our event has raised over $9 million to support these programs.

In 2010:

  • 3,614 workers and family members were registered in the program and nearly 7,500 medical and dental encounters were documented including:
  • 3,159 dental procedures
  • 1,414 medical clinic visits
  • 1,257 flu and tetanus vaccinations
  • 236 vision exams and glasses
  • 156 diagnostics (x-ray/lab)
  • 89 classes and certifications (CPR, first aid, etc.)
  • 900 wellness clinics at the work site
  • 238 major medical (emergency, surgery, hospitalization)

The total program expense for fiscal year 2010 was $675,803 which is an average annual cost of $187 for each person identified, or $91 per encounter.

¡Salud! at a Glance:

  • We work to provide access to healthcare services for Oregon’s seasonal vineyard workers and their families
  • Our medical professionals use patient navigator knowledge and skills to provide guidance, education, and to advocate for families, thus avoiding costly medical expenses.
  • We are able to deliver $3 of service for every $1 spent because of collaborative relationships with partnering healthcare organizations.
